Durban Beach
Durban Beach otherwise known as “The Golden Mile” runs from uShaka Marine World to the newly built Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World to the north. It runs parallel to the CBD of Durban to its west.

Durban beach is a leisure paradise and one of the major tourist attractions in the city of Durban.The beaches have a broad expanse of golden sand, divided by various piers. Bask in the sub-tropical sunshine while you sun tan and enjoy swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Lifeguards and shark nets are standard at most of Durban’s beaches. Surfing is very popular and Durban beach is a world famous Surfing destination. In particular, The South Beach end is well-known amongst locals as a safe site for neophyte surfing. The impressive high rise buildings that dot the Beach are a collage of tourist hotels, residential apartments, beachfront properties , several popular restaurants and nightclubs. There are even remnants of some of Durban’s older art-deco style architecture which is still left from the development boom of the 1960s and 1970s.

Durban Beach has always been a popular holiday destination for local South Africans from all over the country, but in particular from Johannesburg especially during the Christmas holiday season. Locals flock to enjoy Durban’s beaches and many attractions, which include:
- The Ocean Way Promenade which runs along the beach to encourage more people to enjoy walking and cycling.
- The Blue Lagoon, a trendy picnic, hangout and fishing site .
- The Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World, a massive casino complex with shops, restaurants, public entertainment activities and a private beach.
- uShaka Marine World aquarium, dolphinarium, water park, Shopping centre and restaurants with the largest shark tank in the world.
- Mini Town which has a miniature replica of the city of Durban which even has a working miniature railway and airport.
- Dairy Beach, North Beach, the Bay of Plenty and Snake Park beaches are well-liked surfing beaches.
- skateboarders, roller bladers and BMX’ers can take advantage of the Skate Park in front of the Bay of Plenty.
- Market vendors ,hawkers and stall owners with a wide selection of Zulu fine art and hand made crafts.
- The only surfing museum in South Africa, Specializing in surf history and cataloguing some of Durban’s world famous surfing history.
